CST is a gentle, hands-on method of evaluating and enhancing the functioning of a physiological body system called the craniosacral system - comprised of the membranes and cerebrospinal fluid that surround and protect the brain and spinal cord. Using a soft touch generally no greater than 5 grams, or about the weight of a nickel, practitioners release restrictions in the craniosacral system to improve the functioning of the central nervous system.
By complementing the body's natural healing processes, CST is increasingly used as a preventive health measure for its ability to bolster resistance to disease, and is effective for a wide range of medical problems associated with pain and dysfunction, including:
Quote from Book < Craniosacral Therapy for Babies and Small Children> By Etienne and Neeto Peirsman
The CS (Craniosacral) system is the oldest, deepest and most primitive system in the body. Shortly after conception when the cells start to build the body, the nervous system (within it the CS system) is the first thing that forms. Out of this, building blocks appear that will form the whole body.
When a newborn child passes through the birth canal, it is compressed completely. Sometimes little bones end up at the wrong spot or slide over each other and stay stuck. Of course this hinders the brain because there is not enough space to grow. Compression can also happen to the spinal column or at both places simultaneously. Our therapy looks for and finds these stuck places and we release them. By putting our hands on the baby and connecting with its CS system we give an enormous boost of energy to the circle that connects us to the baby. This creates a clarity that will take the treatment to its point.
